The hard-slugging third baseman has just gone after a bad pitch. Boos rise like balloons from the box seats. Admonishments fling themselves from the growling crowds. The rookie southpaw tucks the ball into the webbing of his glove. He adjusts the bill on his cap and climbs back upon the mound, keeping his back to the wealthy slugger. |
