An unfinished painting in the dbl series which began as a beach scene. The sun met the dbl convention of a circle in the upper right, but I was initially unsure of what to use for the diagonal line and the square or rectangle in the lower left. It then occurred that a tilted beach umbrella and a beach towel would be in keeping with a beach theme. But I never got around to attempting to paint those objects into the painting. Years pass. I then find that I use the unfinished painting in a number of digital blendings. It's unfinished quality makes it quite amenable to the blending process—I use it with a number of different mediums.
Finally, I scan David Hockney's Beach Umbrella which I cut and paste into the digital copy of the painting along with one of my daughter's beach towels and we then have what I had hoped the painting would be (although the painting remains unfinished).
